New York, NY: HudsonWay Immersion School, the oldest private Mandarin immersion school in NYC serving students ages 2-12, plans to cope with rapidly increasing enrollment by moving to a single new, larger space at 525 W. 52nd St. in time for the 2019-2020 school year.   [Currently, HudsonWay Immersion School is located in two locations on the Upper West Side as well as a campus in Stirling, New Jersey.]

Sharon Huang, HudsonWay Immersion School Founder and CEO describes this as “a very exciting milestone we have been planning for a long time.  The move will enable us to double our Mandarin preschool capacity, add a Spanish track starting in preschool and kindergarten, an elementary Mandarin immersion track for children in kindergarten or 1st grade without previous exposure, and extend our Mandarin immersion program through grade 6."  The school plans on continuing to expand, offering immersion education through grade 8.

The new space, totaling over 20,000 square feet, will be custom built for the school's use to include state-of-the-art classrooms, office space, a gym, and designated areas for art, music, media and robotics.  The new location will have access to the nearby Dewitt-Clinton Park, which features outdoor playing fields and playgrounds, a community garden, and an arts theatre. It is also part of a modern, luxury building that has community space for parent events, including rooftop views of the Hudson River.

“I share the joy and excitement of this announcement with our staff, some of whom have been with us since we began our journey in NYC 10 years ago, and with our families who believed in us and valued the education we provided. Their collective commitment to the principles of true immersion have enabled us to develop children who started in preschool and are now in 5th grade achieving skills and knowledge in math, science, and social studies at higher levels than we thought possible. We are excited to see what the years ahead in this home will bring and having everyone under one roof will strengthen our school community and simplify logistics for both parents and administration.

With the relocation last summer of the school's New Jersey campus to a former Catholic pre-K to 8th grade school in Stirling, NJ," Huang added, "we are now close to realizing our vision of having both our campuses in excellent facilities for the future."
