HWIS Summer Camp: Week 2 in Review

Written by HWIS | Jul 10, 2015 11:19:42 AM

During Week 2 of Summer Camp, HWIS campers took classroom adventures to Shanghai and Puerto Rico! Spanish students enjoyed making (and eating!) plantains and a traditional Puerto Rican shaved ice dessert called piraguas. They explored Puerto Rico through art and song and read stories like Diez Patitos de Goma (10 Little Rubber Ducks).

Mandarin students learned about the city of Shanghai, China's booming metropolis. Campers learned songs like 茉莉花(Jasmine) and 咏鹅 (Swan). They read stories, wrote characters and dressed in traditional Chinese clothes known as quipao and tangzhuang.
